Sea Glass and hand rolled clay chandelier.
Each glass piece is hand tied, each clay bead and pendant are hand rolled.
The resulting effect is truly unique and no two lamps are ever the same.

Made in South Africa by women affected by HIV in an effort to help them maintain independence and provide for their children.

This chandelier was made some years ago and purchased at a charity auction for a rather large undisclosed sum of money.

The mount seen atop the chandelier which it is hanging by is a vintage Slocumb micrometer from a machine shop in the 60's or 70's and is sold with the chandelier.
I found it to be appropriate to the design of the chandelier and age of the glass which was harvested to create it giving it an even more unique appearance.


Sea glass is physically and chemically weathered glass found on beaches along bodies of salt water. These weathering processes produce natural frosted glass.
True "sea glass" formed in the ocean takes anywhere from 50 to 100 years to create.

"Drawing on African heritage and local craftsmanship, each bead is hand rolled using raw clay from the region. They are then dried, kiln fired and dip-dyed before being masterfully strung onto its unique wrought iron frame. This hand made process ensures that no two lights will ever be the same."

Shipping will be negotiated seperately for this item as it will need to be carefully packaged and suspended to prevent damage during its journey.
